Akhil Patel, MD: New OBGYN at Patel & Patel, M.D. Inc.
Dr. Akhil Patel (Dr. Akhil) is the newest OBGYN at Patel & Patel, M.D. Inc., where he joins his father, an established OBGYN, and his mother, a family doctor. Dr. Akhil has a strong connection to his home state and a passion for caring for the community that raised him. After graduating summa cum laude from West Virginia University, he attended the Marshall University Joan C Edwards School of Medicine. During medical school, he knew he wanted to find a field that would allow him to care for patients throughout their lives and to practice surgery at the same time. OBGYN was the perfect fit. Dr. Akhil completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at West Virginia University's Charleston Division at Charleston Area Medical Center.
As an OBGYN, Dr. Akhil has a wide range of clinical interests in women's reproductive health, including high-risk and routine pregnancies, nutrition in pregnancy, and providing trauma-informed care. He is also trained in minimally invasive gynecological surgery and certified on the DaVinci Robotic system. In addition, he has published and presented nationally on the topic of substance use in pregnancy. He is committed to staying up-to-date on the latest medical advancements and techniques, and he is always looking for ways to improve the care he provides to his patients.
In his free time, Dr. Akhil enjoys practicing yoga, traveling, cooking, and hiking with his dog Tarzan. He is excited to join his father and mother in their practice and to continue the legacy of excellent care that they have built over the years. He looks forward to serving the community and helping his patients achieve their best possible health. He is currently accepting new patients of all ages and is ready to partner with you for all of your women's health needs.
